GMA-7 Official Statement on TV5-GMA Network Merger Report

GMA-7 and TV-5 is merging this year?  The article  came out in the Philippine Star today, June 4, 2012.

Earlier, Manny V. Pangilinan, MVP sent a text to Arnell Ignacio, MVP clarified previous reports about him dropping a hint about GMA-7 and TV5 merger. To quote:

You know Arnel, all I said was - please support TV5 here in the States. And, by the way, please support GMA 7 too (since Dish carries GMA). That was all. No mention of merger, investment combination. Certainly no mention of a November deadline, or any deadline at all. Sure, some people speculated and all I said was I can now say we, re under discussion but nothing finalized at this time."

 
Meanwhile here's GMA Networks statement about the issue:

GMA Network is not in a position to comment on the article that came out in the Philippine Star today, June 4, 2012, regarding the reported merger of GMA Network and TV5 since we are not the source of the information. The said article attributed the information to Mr. Manny Pangilinan (MVP). To our knowledge, MVP has clarified that he was misquoted. We therefore suggest that anyone who wishes to verify may do so with MVP."

TV5 News- Official Statement on Tulfo Brothers for threatening Raymart and Claudine. Raffy and Erwin Tulfo made a "threat" to couples Raymart and Claudine Berretto for the incident happened on May 7 at the NAIA Domestic Airport involving their brother Ramon Tulfo (watch the video, HERE).

News5 assures the public and all parties concerned that the statements made by the Tulfo brothers brothers in its program, T3, last May 7, 2012, were unscripted, spontaneous, and do not in any way reflect the stand nor the policy of the network, its management, staff and employees. While we understand the emotions at play during the broadcast, News5 does not and will never condone such behavior. It was not only uncalled for but runs counter to the established Code of Ethics that we all strictly adhere to.
We are taking necessary actions to deal with this lapse in judgment on the part of the Tulfo brothers and assure the public that we remain committed to objective and impartial journalism."

GMA News TV and GMA Network bags 3 Silver Medal Awards and ABS-CBN took 1 Bronze Medal in the 2012 New York Festival Awards.

ABS-CBN wins Bronze Medal for their Krusada : Laya ( Freedom ) in Social Issues/Current Events category, GMA News TV bags Two Silver Medal Awards via Front Row: Bente Dos (Twenty-Two) and Front Row: Yaman Sa Basura (Child Urban Miners) in Social Issues/Current Events category while GMA Network took home another Silver Medal with I-Witness: Lapnos (Burn) in the same category.

I-Witness’ "Lapnos" (Burn) episode won the Silver World Medal for the Social Issues and Current Events category, while GMA News TV’s Front Row brought home two Silver World Medals – one for the Social Issues category for its "Yaman sa Basura" (Child Urban Miners) episode and another one for the Biography/Profiles category for the documentary program’s "Bente Dos" (Twenty-Two) episode.

Front Row’s "Yaman Sa Basura" tells the story of twin boys risking life and limb working in an urban mine in order to help their family. "Bente Dos" (Twenty-Two), on the other hand, narrates the life of a couple living in Manila ’s slums, together with their children - all 22 of them.

Miss World Philippines 2012 is now on TV5

After only being on Kapuso Station for one year, Miss World Philippines finds a new home in TV5 as it inks partners with the most aggressive broadcast network in the country.

Following the success of the first Miss World Philippines last year and the 1st Runner-Up finish of Gwendoline Ruias at the Miss World pageant held in London,England, the prestigious pageant continues to move forward for a bigger and more meaningful celebration of “Beauty with a Purpose”, underscoring the advocacy of Miss World in championing the cause of marginalized women and children.

Now that TV5 is its official media partner, Miss World Philippines is set to bring together the most beautiful Filipinas to give them a memorable and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present to the world the true beauty and brilliance of today’s Filipina.

With beauty and wellness guru Cory Quirino at the helm, Miss World Philippines begins its nationwide search for candidates who possess the outstanding qualities of a future beauty queen that will give the country a winning chance to claim the Miss World crown which has long eluded the Philippines for 61 years.

This year, the stage is set for the upcoming Miss World Pageant on August 16 in Ordos, Inner Mongolia China where more than 113 candidates from all over the world will compete for the crown that will proclaim the winner as the most beautiful woman in the world.

Miss World prized itself in being the biggest and the longest running pageant in the world, established in 1951 with headquarters in London, England.

Present at the contract signing were TV5 President and CEO Atty. Ray Espinosa and CQ Global Quest Inc. Chair and CEO and Miss World Philippines 2012 Pageant Director Cory Quirino.

“We are happy to welcome Miss World Philippines to TV5 and we will be equally proud of the candidates who will join this year’s pageant as well as our future Miss World Philippines who will vie for the Miss World crown,” Atty. Espinosa said.

Cory Quirino stated: “Miss World Philippines is pleased to have found a new home in TV5 which secures the future of this prestigious pageant and strengthens the hope of every Filipina who holds the dream of becoming a beauty queen.”

TV5 will air the Miss World Philippines Pageant live from the Manila Hotel in late June. The much anticipated Miss World Pageant in Inner Mongolia, China will also be broadcast live via TV5 in August.
