Bill Hicks and Mitch Hedberg

These guys went WAY to early. There are some really great comedians out there but these two are by far my favorites. Bill  Hicks died of cancer in the early 90's. If you've seen Dennis Leary's old standup (which he made his trademark) you would realise that he's nothing but a Hicks ripoff. The chain smoking, the overwhelming pessimism, the overall dark imagery, dirty as Sam Kinison. Long story short, he lifted his image from Bill Hicks. Oh well. Mitch Hedberg died in 2005 of an overdose. He had a completely original look, delivery, and presence. Detatched but still warm. Makes me laugh til it hurts.

Tea Party

First of all, i do not consider myself a "liberal". That being said, this uber conservative, beyond right wing tea party bullshit is a joke. And i think the same of any other super divisive, polarizing political group as well. One positive thing about this tea party nonsense is that it's causing a major divide within the republican party. The more books Sarah Palin and Glen Beck sell, the more money they make, the more isolated these uber-social conservatives become. Democrats should be pleased that Sarah Palin is the most prominent figure in the republican party right now. Casual viewers think she speaks on behalf of the average republican and are disgusted by her. Remember what she did to John McCain's presidential candidacy? Numbers don't lie.

DOOM!!

"Doom" or "Stoner" is a sub genre of metal that takes more of a Black Sabbath approach to songwriting. Thick walls of slow, heavy, fuzzy sludge replace the machine gun like attack of bands like Pantera and Slayer. Basically it's the heaviest blues you can imagine. Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete is Miss Universe 2010

Calmly stepping into history and never losing herself in the pressure and drama of the moment, Miss Mexico, Jimena Navarrete, has been crowned Miss Universe 2010, becoming the first Miss Universe from Mexico since 1991 and putting to rest rumors of a curse that had bedeviled other Mexican contestants over the years.

Culminating what has been a renewed & refreshed pageant, full of color, style and joy, the newest Miss Universe seemed destined to win the crown from the moment she took the stage at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on Monday night in Las Vegas. Although poised and graceful throughout the competition, Ms. Navarrete was at a literal loss for words when first asked for her reaction to winning, coming out with a heartfelt "I can't think of anything, I'm blank... Sorry."

Yendi Phillipps, Miss Jamaica, was the runner up, followed by Miss Australia - Jesinta Campbell, Miss Ukraine - Ana Poslavska, and Miss Philippines - Venus Raj.

The evening's hosts, rocker and reality-TV star Bret Michaels and NBC correspondent Natalie Morales, displayed genuine chemistry as they kept the action flowing. Ms. Morales kept pace with the contestants, changing dresses three times, while Mr. Michaels remained the rock star in a black leather and velvet suit and his trademark bandana across his brow

In August, 83 participants from all over the world participated in the finals of the Miss Universe contest. 

Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete’s title win as the Miss Universe 2010 has become a glowing achievement for her country.  The 22-year-old brunette crowned the title surviving all challenges in the Miss Universe pageant held at the Las Vegas strip on Monday.
