Terremoto nel Nord Italia: epicentro a Bologna. SETTE MORTI. Una ventina di secondi a magnitudo 6, che squarciano la notte da Milano a Venezia, da Torino a Trieste, da Bolzano a Bologna. L'epicentro viene registrato proprio in Emilia-Romagna - la Regione che già a gennaio era stata 'strattonatà per ben due volte da altrettanti terremoti - tra le province di Modena e Ferrara. Un fazzoletto di terra in cui si scatena l'inferno, con le case che si piegano come ramoscelli e gli edifici storici che non reggono l'urto. Il bilancio è drammatico e costringe il presidente del Consiglio, Mario Monti, a rientrare in anticipo dagli Stati Uniti.
SETTE VITTIME I morti sono sette, sei dei quali nel Ferrarese e uno in provincia di Bologna, una cinquantina i feriti lievi nel Modenese, tra cui un vigile del fuoco, e circa tremila sfollati che dovranno trascorrere la prossima notte in albergo o nelle tendopoli allestite dalla Protezione civile, sotto un cielo livido di pioggia. Incalcolabili al momento i danni, per i quali martedì il Consiglio dei Ministri dichiarerà lo stato di emergenza, mentre si susseguono le scosse dello sciame sismico. Tra le tante, una di magnitudo 3.3 alle 5.35, un'altra di 2.9 alle 5.44, poi l'altra 'bottà delle 15.18 che fa salire la scala Richter fino a 4.1, provoca nuovi crolli e semina altra paura tra le popolazioni già terrorizzate. La macchina dei soccorsi si mette subito in moto, suscitando il vivo apprezzamento del Capo dello Stato Giorgio Napolitano, che ha espresso la propria solidarietà alle comunità coinvolte e la sua commossa partecipazione al dolore delle famiglie delle vittime, mentre Papa Benedetto XVI nel Regina Coeli implora «la misericordia di Dio per quanti sono morti e il sollievo nella sofferenza per i feriti».

Earthquake strikes near Bologna in Italy
A 5.9-magnitude earthquake has struck near Bologna, Italy, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).No injuries were immediately confirmed, an Interior Ministry spokesman said, but many calls were coming in and there was one report of a roof collapsing in Sermide, a small town between Bologna and Verona, and of a woman inside calling for help.Firefighters said there were some "structural collapses" near the town of Bondeno, and the initial quake was followed by a fairly strong 5.1 magnitude aftershock.
"It's in the Bologna-Ferrara area. There's been a bit of damage, some structures have come down with people in them," a person at the Ferrara firefighter headquarters said over the phone.The quake woke residents in Bologna shortly after 3.00am (local time), shaking furniture and setting off car alarms, a Reuters reporter living there said. People exited on to their balconies, but soon went back to bed, he said.No damage in Bologna had been reported, an official there said.The quake, which initially registered at magnitude 6.3, was centered 35 kilometres north-northwest of Bologna in northern Italy at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres, the USGS said.The quake hit in a populated area near the northern Italian cities of Modena, Ferrara, Verona and Mantua.

Ενας άνθρωπος έχασε τη ζωή του σε βιομηχανική εγκατάσταση κοντά στην Φεράρα, εξαιτίας του σεισμού που σημειώθηκε στη βορειοανατολική Ιταλία, όπως ανακοίνωσε η υπηρεσία Πολιτικής Προστασίας της χώρας ενώ δύο άνθρωποι τραυματίστηκαν σε άλλη περιοχή.
Σεισμική δόνηση 5,9 βαθμών της κλίμακας ρίχτερ σημειώθηκε κοντά στην πόλη Μπολόνια της Ιταλίας σήμερα, σύμφωνα με το Γεωδυναμικό Ινστιτούτο των ΗΠΑ (USGS).Ο σεισμός, ο οποίος αρχικά αναφέρθηκε από το USGS ότι είχε μέγεθος 6,3 βαθμών, είχε επίκεντρο 35 χιλιόμετρα βόρεια-βορειοδυτικά της Μπολόνια στη βόρεια Ιταλία, και σχετικά χαμηλό εστιακό βάθος 10 χιλιομέτρων, σύμφωνα με το αμερικανικό ινστιτούτο.Ο τελευταίος μεγάλος σεισμός που είχε πλήξει την Ιταλία ήταν αυτός στην 'Ακουιλα το 2009, μεγέθους 6,3 βαθμών, ο οποίος είχε στοιχίσει τη ζωή σε σχεδόν 300 ανθρώπους και είχε προκαλέσει μεγάλες υλικές ζημιές.Τον Ιανουάριο φέτος είχε σημειωθεί ένας σεισμός 5,3 βαθμών που είχε γίνει αισθητός στη Γένοβα, στην Μπολόνια, στο Τορίνο και το Μιλάνο, την ιταλική οικονομική πρωτεύουσα.
